Newborn Home Sessions are lovingly created by you and captured by me.

Taking the time to invest in a newborn photography session at home is a rewarding experience. It might seem daunting, but moments like these captured below during a newborn session at home on the Sunshine Coast, can’t be replicated once your missed that window of perfect tininess. Newborns grow so quickly, blink, and you’ll miss these truly special and adorable moments.

Capturing those tiny hands and fingers with newborn macro photography

Newborns grow SO fast, so capturing them in their first weeks is imperative if you want to remember the delicate details of your little one. Tiny features like their hands, fingers and skin textures are often overlooked in standard portraits but will hold immense emotional significance for you as parents as they grow and a phenomenal pace. These close-ups preserve you baby’s unique features and freeze these moments in time, at a time when you are usually exhausted and might not really be able to notice these daily changes as your baby grows.

Professionally photographing minute details of your baby’s wrinkles, folds and unique characteristics through artistic , creatively lit and expertly composed imagery is where you can feel confident that the smallest and most cherished moment of their newness is captured for your lifetime and generations to come.

I use a macro lens to achieve high levels of detail and clarity, and concentrate on how the light and shadow hits the area I am trying to focus on. Lighting plays a crucial role, with natural and soft light being preferred to maintain a gentle, serene mood in all angles of the image. I always shoot from the dark side so basically photograph from the shadow side into the light. Making sure that the detail I want to focus on isn't itself, all in shadow but only aspects of the image.  I make sure I’m able to turn the baby very gently ( usually on a bean bag or ottoman ) until I get the shadow and light balance perfect. Being patient and calm always pays off when shooting little ones and I generally find it easier to capture macro images on manual focus when baby is in a deep sleep or having a feed.
